How to Connect Two Wireless Routers Together

If you wish to extend the range of Wifi signal in your home network, you can purchase an additional wireless router and connect it to your existing router with an Ethernet cable.
The setup is pretty easy, inexpensive and the best part is that your two routers need not have to be from the same manufacturer so, for example, you can easily connect your Linksys (Cisco) router to a router from say Netgear or Belkin.  For instance, I am using a 30m long Ethernet cable to connect my two routers – one is a Linksys WRT 160N (N based) and other one is a WRH54G (G based) and the setup works just perfect.

How to Connect One Router to Another

For this example, let’s assume that you have an OLD_ROUTER and a NEW_ROUTER.
Step 1: Make sure your old router is working.
Step 1a: Connect the Broadband modem to your OLD_ROUTER’s Internet (WAN) port. Then connect the computer to one of the four available ports on your router through an Ethernet cable.
Step 1b: Make sure that the Internet connection is working on your computer and on your wireless devices.
Step 2: Configure your new router
Most routers have an IP address of 192.168.1.1 so before you connect them, you need to ensure that they have been assigned two different IP addresses.
Step 2a: Shut down your OLD_ROUTER and the modem. Also unplug the Ethernet cable from the computer.
Step 2b. Plug the Ethernet cable into any of the numbered ports of NEW_ROUTER and connect the other end to your computer. Switch on the NEW_ROUTER.
Step 2c. Access the web dashboard of NEW_ROUTER (192.168.1.1) and change the local IP address to something like 192.168.2.1 so that there’s no conflict with the old router. Save the changes.
Step 2d. Test the SSID name of the new router and make sure it’s different from the old router. Also make sure that SSID broadcast is turned on. Save the changes.
Step 3: Connect the two routers
Step 3a. Connect the modem to the Internet Port of the OLD_ROUTER.
Step 3b. Connect one of the number ports of OLD_ROUTER to your computer.
Step 3c. Connect another free port on the OLD_ROUTER to the Internet Port of your NEW_ROUTER using an Ethernet or LAN cable.
Important Points to remember
1. It is suggested that the length of the LAN cable connecting the two routers should not exceed 100m and that you should avoid having any joints in the cable. LAN cables are pretty cheap – I got a Cat5e cable for 25¢/m.
2. If you have a compatible router, I suggest upgrading the firmware to DD-WRT as that will slightly boost the wireless signal plus you’ll get access to tons of other settings in your router.
3. If you have enabled Wi-Fi security in your previous router, use the same settings in your new router as well.
4. It is important that you assign different SSIDs to the two routers else the same network name will appear twice in your wireless network connections window.
5. If you don’t remember the username of your router, try these combinations – root + admin, admin + admin, admin + password or admin (as username) and no password.

Make your Old Add-ons Work with Firefox 4

Mozilla recently introduced the final version of  firefox 4 that is quite different from any of the previous releases.
Firefox 4 sports a clean and polished look, the add-ons section has been completely revamped, the menu bars are hidden so you have more screen estate for reading web pages plus you now have the option to permanently “pin” frequently used web apps.
There’s however one problem that comes with every major Firefox release – all your old add-ons or extensions may not work with Firefox 4 since they were written for Firefox 3.x releases.

Using Old Add-ons with Firefox 4

Here are some ways by which you can get your old add-ons work with Firefox 4 even if they are listed as incompatible on the Mozilla site.
Option #1. Mozilla earlier created the Compatibility Reporter add-on for its users to test and report the compatibility of add-ons with various Firefox releases.
The interesting part about this add-on is that it will automatically configure your Firefox to install and use add-ons that are otherwise incompatible with your release of Firefox.
Option #2. If you don’t like installing one more extension to your Firefox build just for enabling older add-ons, here’s a workaround.
Type about:config in your browser address bar and agree to the warning message. Now right click inside the browser, choose New –> Boolean, type the preference name as extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0 and set it to False.
That’s it. Your old add-ons will work with Firefox 4 and you will also be able to download and install any of the other incompatible add-ons from the Internet. If you interested in the technical details, check this mozillaZine entry.
Option #3. This is the geekiest option of them all but one that doesn’t require you to change anything inside Firefox.
You can download the extension (the .xpi file) to your computer, unzip it and change the value of em:maxVersion under install.rdf file to 4.0.* – now pack the extension again and drag-n-drop to your Firefox browser. Please refer to mozillaZine mozillaZine for detailed step-by-step instructions.

As Smart phone Usage Rises, India SMBs Are Set to Spend US$173M In 2011

With the world spending more on smart phones, India SMBs are as well. With 54% of India medium businesses (MBs, companies with 100-999 employees) currently using these devices and a clutch of innovations on the horizon, smartphone penetration and spending are poised for growth. In 2011, India SMBs (companies with less than 1000 employees) are set to grow that spending to $173M, according to New York-based Access Markets International (AMI) Partners.

"At present many smartphone users in India do not use the data services that these phones offer," says Priti Verma, Research Analyst at AMI-Partners, Bangalore. "Insufficient data bandwidth is hindering usage of these services. With the advent of 3G spectrum we are observing an increase in the coverage that phone companies are able to offer and in turn smartphone penetration levels and data plan usage are on the rise," continues Verma.

Smartphone vendors can improve demand for smart phones by continuing to reduce prices as well as offering more and varied plan options. "Users prefer using only one device for presentations, email or downloading information," adds Verma. "This eliminates the need to have multiple devices such as a projector, computer and a phone when conducting normal business and personal transactions."

The landscape of mobile internet usage has changed to such an extent that in some cases the first internet experience is now through a mobile phone rather than a PC. "Search, financial services, sports, online trading and entertainment get a big share of smartphone usage," says Verma, "and people spend more time on smartphone entertainment than talking or sending messages."

Currently India SMBs' installed base of smartphones is less than one million with the maximum penetration of these devices understandably in the professional services vertical. Data show that India SMBs are planning increased spending on smartphone data plan services. With many more companies recognizing the advantages of using social networking, podcasting and micro-blogging, it seems natural that the adoption of the smart phone is on the rise throughout India.

As India continues to move towards a more mobile workforce, the smart phone will become an essential tool that all employees will require. With the improvement in the quality of navigation maps and simplification of licensing terms, phones with GPS capabilities are expected to become more in demand. And the emergence of open source operating systems and 2GHz processors will also help also boost smart phones. Looking forward, all of these changes together will forge a new paradigm of a true collaborative ecosystem.

Steve Jobs to return 'as soon as he can': Cook

SAN FRANCISCO: Apple's ailing chief executive Steve Jobs remains involved in major strategic decisions at the company and hopes to return to work full-time as soon as he can, a top Apple executive said.

"He is still on medical leave but we do see him on a regular basis," Apple chief operating officer Tim Cook told financial analysts during a conference call to discuss the company's fiscal second-quarter earnings.

"And as we've previously said he continues to be involved in major strategic decision," Cook said. "I know he wants to be back full-time as soon as he can."

Jobs, 56, went on medical leave in January, his third since 2004, but has retained his title of chief executive at Apple.

Jobs underwent an operation for pancreatic cancer in 2004 and received a liver transplant in 2009, but Apple has not released any details about his latest health issues.

Apple's fortunes have been uniquely linked to Jobs, who returned to the then flagging company in 1997 after a 12-year absence and introduced innovative and wildly successful products like the iPod, iPhone and iPad.

Cloud music: Apple all set to beat Google

NEW YORK: Apple Inc has completed work on an online music storage service and is set to launch it ahead of Google Inc, whose own music efforts have stalled, according to several people familiar with both companies' plans.

Apple's plans will allow iTunes customers to store their songs on a remote server, and then access them from wherever they have an Internet connection, said two of these people who asked not to be named as the talks are still confidential.

The maker of the wildly popular iPhone and iPod, Apple has yet to sign any new licenses for the service and major music labels are hoping to secure deals before the service is launched, three of the sources said. Apple has not told its music partners of when it intends to introduce its music locker, they said.

An Apple spokesman declined to comment.

Amazon.com Inc launched a music locker service earlier in April without new licensing agreements leading to threats of legal action from some music companies. At the time, Amazon argued that its so-called Cloud Drive service does not need licenses, and said uploaded music belongs to the users.

Last week, however, Amazon held talks with some labels to reach agreements for a new, more sophisticated locker service.

Apple, Amazon and Google are battling for control of new digital media platforms through which everyday users will access their music and videos.

While Amazon is the leading e-reader maker, Apple and Google are competing on mobile platforms like smartphones and tablet devices.

Google had been expected to launch a music service as a feature of its Android mobile operating system as far back as last Christmas.

"They keep changing what they're asking for," said a label executive who asked not to be named because the talks are confidential.

Two of the sources said Google originally wanted to launch a basic locker service and an 'iTunes-like' store. In recent weeks it has suggested exploring licensing for a subscription service, they said.

Talks are ongoing with major music labels including market leader Universal Music Group, owned by Vivendi, as well as Sony Corp's Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group and EMI Group.

Music industry executives are pointing to changes in top management at Google as a possible reason for the technology company's uncertain music strategy. On April 1, co-founder Larry Page took over as chief executive with Eric Schmidt moving up to executive chairman. Android chief Andy Rubin led most of the early talks with the labels.

Apple and Google are keen to offer services that give music fans more flexibility to access their media wherever they are rather than tying them to a particular computer or mobile device.

In late 2009, Apple bought Lala, a cloud-based music company, but closed it down in April 2010, leading to speculation that it would launch an Apple-branded cloud service.

Earlier this month, Google bought Canadian mobile music company PushLife as part of its drive to help Android users share and purchase content across devices. Last May, Google also bought Simplify Media, a remote media company, but has since closed it down.

Changing Mobile Devices

Canada’s Aluminum-Power Inc. today announced that its breakthrough aluminum-air fuel cell for portable energy applications is featured in the December, 2000 issue of Scientific American’s monthly “Fuel Cell Industry Report”.

The extensive article describes the unique features of the Aluminum-Power technology and the extended capacities and power output of the aluminum-air fuel cell.

The article notes that “compared to lithium-ion and nickel cadmium batteries, the aluminum-air battery provides an estimated 75 times more energy density plus greater output over a longer battery lifetime.” To date, the Aluminum-Power battery has achieved 800Wh/kg with peak currents of 7 amps recorded. Aluminum-Power scientists believe that 4,000/Wh/kg is theoretically possible.

The article also notes that Aluminum-Power has set a 2001 target of 24 hours of talk time and 30 days of standby time for cell phones powered by the company’s aluminum-air battery.

Developed over the past five years, the Aluminum-Power aluminum-air cell has a high energy to weight ratio and because of its simple design, its dimensions can be customized to fit small and large technology.

The report also noted the ‘green’ nature of the Aluminum-Power fuel cell, particularly its recyclability. The article referred to extensive research that “shows the products of reacted aluminum to be environmentally benign.”

Aluminum-Power Inc. is currently seeking manufacturing and marketing partners to initiate production of its aluminum-air fuel cell.

The article quoted Rafael Ferry, Vice President, Marketing, as saying the company is now in the pre-production stage for its aluminum-air batteries. The company is also actively working on the production of prototypes that are sized for home power supply as well as electric vehicles. These should be available next year.

Aluminum-Power Inc. recently appointed Stephen Maislin as Chief Executive Officer of Aluminum-Power and James McCoubrey as the company’s Vice-Chairman and Director.

Mr. Maislin has built a successful career developing start-up opportunities and most recently was President of TeleMedisys Inc., a remote medical resource centre that was acquired by Bell Canada/Ameritech. Prior to this, Mr. Maislin served as Chief Executive Officer of Seiko Communications, President of Scotpage and Vice-President of Maislin Transport.

Mr. McCoubrey has had an outstanding career in the communications industry, serving 20 years with Young & Rubicam Inc. as Executive Vice President, Director and Chairman, CEO Canada, and most recently led the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation through a restructuring initiative as Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, and President and CEO of Ad Interim.

Aluminum-Power is a Canadian-based high-technology company which has perfected proprietary aluminum and oxygen fuel cells that offer significantly higher power output over extended periods. The company is currently focusing on commercializing its technology for the portable electronics industry.

Aluminum Power has developed a self-contained power source that promises minimum environmental impact. Aluminum Power’s Al-fuel cell is composed of an aluminum anode set in an alkaline solution and an oxygen diffusion cathode. Contained by a self-recharging cartridge, the fuel cell’s specific output is 2.5wt*hr/cm3 – far greater than any available fuel cell or battery currently on the market. The emission-free oxidation of aluminum provides a power supply unmatched in terms of cost, efficiency and energy output.

While the average Lithium Ion or Nickel Cadmium battery allows up to 120 minutes of talk time, the Al-fuel cell will provide for 25 hours of talk and up to 240 hours of standby in digital mode. Similarly, the maximum wireless access of conventional laptop computer is about two hours. In contrast, the self-recharging aluminum power cell will easily accommodate up to 24 hours of operation.

4G networking

One of the most important features in the 4G mobile networks is the control of high-speed packet transmissions or burst traffic in the channels. The same codes used in the 2G-3G networks will be applied to future 4G mobile or wireless networks, the detection of very short bursts will be a serious problem due to their very poor partial correlation properties. Recent study has indicated that traditional multi-layer network architecture based on the OSI model may not be well suited for 4G mobile network, where transactions of short packets will be the major part of the traffic in the channels. As the packets from different mobiles carry completely different channel characteristics, the receiver should execute all necessary algorithms, such as channel estimation, interactions with all upper layers and so on, within a very short time to make the detections of each packet flawlessly and even to reduce the congestion..

Companies Look to Technology

HP recently announced new global research that shows organizations around the world expect technology to help them meet the challenges of today’s unpredictable business environment and anticipate future business needs. According to the global study, more than 90 percent of senior business decision makers believe business cycles will continue to be unpredictable in the next few years. Seven out of 10 believe this new economy will change the way business planning works. Nearly 75 percent of business leaders say their technology department is a fundamental enabler of their business’s success. Eight out of 10 leaders think the new economy will require significantly more technology focused on market-based needs. “Technology is the sustaining force of any organization. To succeed, organizations must be adept at using technology to navigate change and seize opportunities,” said Ann Livermore, executive vice president, HP Enterprise Business. “HP believes technology can and should make a significant contribution to every organization’s ability not just to cope, but to thrive. Our customers see this as well.” Shifting toward innovation According to 84 percent of business leaders, innovation is critical to their organization’s success in the new economy. Two-thirds of these business leaders are using technology to identify new business opportunities and 71 percent said they would invest in more technology if they could see it was meeting time-to-market and business opportunity needs. Demands for rapid change The research also shows 80 percent of organizations indicated their business and technology approach must be more flexible to meet changing customer needs. More than half of chief information officers (CIOs) globally are currently being called upon to make frequent rapid changes in technology to support the business (ranging from 65 percent in Latin America to 49 percent in Asia Pacific). Very few CIOs – only six percent overall – said they are never called upon to make rapid changes in technology to meet changing business needs. Looking forward two to three years, 62 percent of all CIOs agreed they would frequently have to make rapid changes to their technology platforms. Thriving in unpredictability Eighty-nine percent of organizations in all regions believe it is possible that companies that go back to the old ways of planning business growth and market development will lose out to those that master the effective use of technology in the unpredictable business climate. Methodology Coleman Parkes Research Ltd. conducted the survey, commissioned by HP, by performing 550 detailed interviews with 150 business executives (chief executive officers/managing directors) and 400 technology experts (CIOs/chief operations officers). All fieldwork was undertaken in September and very early October and only companies with more than 500 employees were included. Twenty-five percent of organizations surveyed were mid-sized companies (500-999 employees) and the rest were enterprise organizations with more than 1,000 employees. Regions included: North America (United States and Canada), Europe and the Middle East (Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Russia, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom), Asia Pacific (Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea), and Latin America (Brazil, Mexico). HP Delivers Breakthrough Converged Infrastructure Architecture

HP recently unveiled the HP Converged Infrastructure Architecture and associated services and partner offerings that provide a blueprint for chief information officers to create elasticity in their technology environments, supporting innovation in their businesses. Today, only 34 percent of typical IT budgets are dedicated to business innovation. This is because the proliferation of IT sprawl has created technology silos in data centers that consume up to 66 percent of the technology budget for maintenance and operations.(1) Solving the issue of IT sprawl is expected to create a $35 billion market opportunity for converged infrastructure solutions by 2012.(2)The HP Converged Infrastructure enables data center environments that allow organizations to focus on innovation and making technology a key differentiator for their businesses. It integrates existing silos of compute, storage, network and facility resources with unified management to deliver a virtualized, highly automated technology environment. With pools of shared services that can be leveraged on the fly, businesses increase the flexibility of their environments and speed time to application value. In a related advance, HP has extended the HP BladeSystem Solution Builder program to enable additional independent software vendors to build solutions that customers can quickly deploy and easily manage in a converged infrastructure. “Companies are asking HP to help them thrive in unpredictability by using technology to rapidly meet the needs of their business,” said Adrian Jones, vice president and general manager, Enterprise Storage, Servers and Networking, HP Asia Pacific and Japan. “HP Converged Infrastructure is the answer and only HP, with its market-leading technology, intellectual property, expertise and partner ecosystem, can deliver it today.”

The HP Converged Infrastructure eliminates technology silos and complexity in the data center while leveraging current technology investments. Through unified management, all assets become part of a resource pool that can be divided, assembled and changed to dynamically align to any business, workload or application need. The use of these resources is optimized across the infrastructure, allowing companies to improve utilization, lower energy use and reduce costs....

The growth of ‘SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY’ is increasing rapidly with the flow of time. Today which is new, that will become old tomorrow. Online or Internet is the latest invention of modern science and technology and in every moment it is changing. There is a hard and tough competition between many countries in this sector.
In this sector , U.S.A & UK both of the country are now in advanced position. On the other hand, INDIA also goes forward. Some countries are also included in this sector rapidly & RUSSIA is one of them.

RUSSIA becomes more powerful in internet by depending on their two online dependent companies which are ‘MAIL .R U’ & ‘DST GLOBAL’. Now both of the companies work as online & investor company. Both of the companies are trying to establish in internet. They are increasing the broad band line of internet very speedily . for increasing the connection of internet , the local business and marketing of the game or networking websites are growing by that company.

Now 45% people are using internet but in UK 95% people are using internet. The internet users are rising massively & the user of RUSSIA is half of UK.

Breaking through in nuclear technology

BEIJING, Jan 3 - Chinese scientists have made a breakthrough in spent fuel reprocessing technology that could potentially solve China's uranium supply problem, state television reported on Monday.

The technology, developed and tested at the No.404 Factory of China National Nuclear Corp in the Gobi desert in remote Gansu province, enables the re-use of irradiated fuel and is able to boost the usage rate of uranium materials at nuclear plants by 60 folds.

"With the new technology, China's existing detected uranium resources can be used for 3,000 years," Chinese Central Television reported.

China, as well as France, the United Kingdom and Russia, actively supports reprocessing as a means for the management of highly radioactive spent fuel and as a source of fissile material for future nuclear fuel supply.

But independent scientists argued that commercial application of nuclear fuel reprocessing has always been hindered by cost, technology, proliferation risk and safety challenges.

China has 171,400 tons of proven uranium resources spread mainly in eight provinces -- Jiangxi, Guangdong, Hunan, Xingjian, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Liaoning and Yunnan.

China is planning a massive push into nuclear power in an effort to wean itself off coal, the dirtiest fossil fuel. It now has 12 working reactors with 10.15 gigwatt of total generating capacity.

China has set an official target of 40 gigawatts (GW) of installed nuclear generating capacity by 2020, but the government indicated it could double the goal to about 80 GW as faster expansion was one of the more feasible solutions for achieving emissions reduction goals.

As such, China will need to source more than 60 percent of the uranium needed for its nuclear power plants from overseas by 2020, even if the country moves forward with a modest nuclear expansion plan, Chinese researchers say.

The price of the WORLD is 5 Quadrillions !

Recently the researcher of U.S.A. made a formula for the valuable prices of different planets. According to his formula the prize of the world goes to 5 quadrillions dollar, said Yahoo online.
Greg Laughlin of university of California said that this formula is for all planets of the universe. He demands that he considered about the age, weight, and temperature, mass of the world. Through Laughlin, the world is the valuable and expensive planet. But on the other hand, the price of the MARS is very less. This red planet is not optimum for living, so the suggested or estimated price is 14,000 $ .

The formula is :

Internet in CHINA

In China the internet users are increasing rapidly. New members are included in the INTERNET world. There have every conscious member of each family who use internet. It makes a new record in the world.

Last year there were 37 lac people used internet but in this year the users are increasing near about 2 cores in first 3 months. In last month it increases 40 cores accordingly. In china one third of people are internet users.

From the official notice of china govt. in this month the user is more increasingly.
In 2009, about 23 core users used internet in mobile phone & 38 core people used in broadband line.

Friends!!!  The most interesting thing is that the net user of china is maximum than the total population of U.S.A.  But most of the user depends on cyber cafe. The social network sites and video sharing site ‘You Tube’ is closed by the INTERNET sensorship of china govt . for this  reason in February  Google left this country.

RAM  (DDR-1, 2, 3)

DDR means Double Data Rate .SDRAM-- Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory.
DDR  is the latest version of (SDRAM)  & Single Data Rate (SDR) . The Frequency and Voltage of RAM depend on the  Data Rate & this  Updated versions  are -- DDR, DDR2, DDR3 .
For example:  The  Frequency of DDR/DDR1 RAM  is 100-400 MHz and Voltage : 2.5-2.6 ;
The Frequency of DDR2 RAM is 533-800 MHz & Voltage: 1.8;
The Frequency of DDR3 RAM is 1066-1333 or higher MHz & Voltage: 1.5;
That’s way we know RAM.

 Google with “+1” Button

Google is captivating a different walk towards its own social network with the “+1” button
If you're down with Facebook's "Like" button, then Google's hoping you'll use the new +1 button, too. Simply put, here's how Google explains +1:
"Use +1 to give something your public stamp of approval, so friends, contacts, and others can find the best stuff when they search. Get recommendations for the things that interest you, right when you want them, in your search results."
The "others" part that comes after friends and contacts are important  as "others" means everybody:
"Your +1's are public. They can appear in Google search results, on ads, and sites across the web. You'll always be able to see your own +1's in a new tab on your Google Profile, and if you want, you can share this tab with the world."
Anything you've +1'd can show up in Google's search results for all to see. Results from people you actually know and are joined to via your Google Profile will be opened more clearly, while items that have been +1'd by strangers may simply come out with the sum total of +1s.
Says Google:
"Say, for example, you're planning a winter trip to Tahoe, Calif. When you do a search, you may now see a +1 from your slalom-skiing aunt next to the result for a lodge in the area. Or if you're looking for a new pasta recipe, we'll show you +1's from your culinary genius college roommate. And even if none of your friends are baristas or caffeine addicts, we may still show you how many people across the web have +1'd your local coffee shop."
You'll be able to +1 Google ads and search results right away, and it won't be long before +1 buttons start appearing on websites next to Facebook "Like" and Twitter re-tweet buttons.
Google will "be slowly rolling out +1's, starting in English on Google.com" but if you don't want to wait, you can flip the switch yourself on Google's experimental settings page right now.
